2015 ASID Showcase House - Great Room Remodel.

I was chosen, along with fellow designer and good friend Sheree Vincent, to design the great room for a shingle style home remodel in Minneapolis, MN.The homeowners requested a relaxed, sophisticated beach feel in the Coastal Style using cool blues and turquoises mixed with white, and driftwood tones. To see how the vision came about, see below.

This is the artist rendering of our  interior design for the Great Room. Here are some of the elements that inspired it.

COLOR. The Coastal Chic style is known for colors that soothe and envigorate. What better way to get started on the interior design for the Great Room than with the vivid colors of this ocean photograph. You can just hear the waves crashing on the beach and feel the cool water on your toes.

These colorful fabrics from Kravet inspired the entire design. The embroidered coral  on turquoise linen,  cobalt blue and white stripe in indoor/outdoor fabric, blue and white Ikat print and whimsical swimming turtle pattern make a statement  for casual, carefree living in true coastal style.

Casual furniture, is a must for any beach house. This weathered side board with a turquoise wash is the perfect choice. I love its one-of-a kind, rough hewn  feel. By Four Hands.

Beach glass is another "must have" for the Coastal Look. We fell in love with this turquoise glass lamp with its crisp white shade.  By Arteriors

This white washed end table in weathered, reclaimed wood is the perfect "found" piece for family use. It can take a beating and still look great. By Four Hands.

Accessories complete the look and make a personal statement in any room. These pieces just say "beach".

This casual, relaxed sofa will be covered in an indoor/outdoor/fabric for worry free family use on a daily basis. The tight back and 2 seat cushions give it a simple, easy look. By Kravet.

Stay tuned for Part 2 and the big reveal!
